UEFA President Michel Platini arrived at the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Tuesday, inspecting the country's preparations for the 2012 European Championship.

Platini touched down at Kiev airport in a private jet. Kiev, one of the eight host cities, is under scrutiny for the world's second-biggest football tournament. The country's ability to build the necessary stadia, hotels and other infrastructure was hit by the global economic downturn.

Platini has already threatened the tournament could be switched elsewhere if deadlines are not met. Euro 2012 is scheduled to take place between June 9th and July 1st 2012.
